My name is Michelle Hockham, I have worked with children and young people with additional needs for twenty plus years now and I am proud to be the Principal of the Woodlands Academy. My role is to ensure that all students are kept safe, feel safe and that all are making great individual progress based on their own needs and abilities in order to support them to be their best as well as preparing them for adult life.

I work closely with all the adults in school to ensure that resources, training and development meet the ever changing needs of our students and education in general and that high standards and expectations are maintained. I also work closely with other leaders both within The Horizon Trust and beyond to ensure that we keep up to date with the ever changing educational landscape so that our students do not miss out.

Students voice is important and I actively encourage our students to communicate what is important to them and how we can work together to achieve this. Whilst most home contact with school will be between home and class staff, I am always available to contact and meet regarding any specifics concerns or worries as well as grateful to receive ideas and suggestions.
